The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has selected Actiflo® as pretreatment at the Fort McMurray Water Treatment Plant. The contract is valued at $1.6 million.
Two (2) Actiflo® clarifiers will be provided, for a total clarified water capacity of 52 million liters per day. The Actiflo® system will be designed to treat a peak raw water turbidity of 65 NTU and a peak raw water color of 50 TCU. Clarified water turbidity is guaranteed to be less than 1 NTU. Detailed design is underway and the start-up of the Actiflo® clarifiers is scheduled for later 2010.
The project will be another significant Actiflo® project in Wester Canada. Other recent Actiflo® projects in Western Canada include the Greater Vancouver Water District (Seymour-Capilano Filtration Plant), The District of Summerland, and The City of Calgary (Bearspaw and Glenmore Water Treatment Plants)
About Actiflo®
The Actiflo® technology relies on microsand ballasted flocculation to significantly increase the settling velocity of particles. This results in outstanding process performance and smaller equipment footprint. This technology is treating water in more than 250 municipal and industrial facilities around the world.
